Our technology
AI weather modeling
Weather has a huge effect on both energy supply and demand, and presents both a challenge and an opportunity. We build better weather models and use them as a key input to our forecasting models.
Machine learning
We train deep learning models to forecast energy prices across thousands of locations on the grid, across all 7 major energy markets. This requires a strong understanding of power generation, demand, weather, and grid conditions.
Optimization
We build systems to optimize battery operations and energy trading given the physical constraints of the grid. This allows us to simulate how power and prices will behave in advance, giving us a strong fundamental understanding of the market.
Meet our team

Matt Wytock
Matt worked on Google's core Search and Ads platforms. He was the creator of Keywordless Ads (Dynamic Search Ads), which was foundational in automating keyword-based search advertising.
He received his PhD in ML from Carnegie Mellon, where he worked on large-scale convex optimization methods for the grid.
Matt founded Gridmatic in 2017 after realizing that electricity market reform is key to enabling the adoption of renewable energy and decarbonizing the grid.

David Miller
David has a decade of experience in the energy storage industry, formerly at Greensmith, Wärtsilä, and Shell. He has overseen strategy, business development, financing, and deployment of grid-scale battery systems across five US ISOs and nine countries. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Economics from Stanford University.

Leesa Lee
Leesa has 25 years of experience leading product and marketing efforts at Fortune 500 and early-stage companies. She was the first marketing hire at several energy startups, and helped launch enduring energy industry brands, culminating in successful IPOs at Enphase and Stem, and a successful acquisition at Greensmith. She has an MBA from UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business.

Yojna Verma
Yojna has a deep background in accounting & finance. She came to Gridmatic from CircleUp, a San Francisco-based fintech firm, and has over two decades of success in top tier companies in the financial services industry, including BTIG, Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse and New York Stock Exchange.


Kise Shannon
Kise has a track record of driving business growth, market share, and brand recognition in the energy industry. Previously serving as SVP Sales and Marketing for Mass Market at Shell Energy, she brings extensive sales and marketing experience from leadership roles at Pulse Power and LifeEnergy.

Parker Mott
Parker has extensive experience in the energy sector, holding leadership roles in retail portfolio management at Freepoint Energy Solutions, EnerNOC, and Direct Energy. At Freepoint, he led pricing, load forecasting, and financial actualization, contributing significantly to automation and forecasting methodologies.
